CIES 2025 - Envisioning Education in a Digital Society
The Education in Conflict and Emergencies SIG invites paper and panel submissions for CIES 2025 that draw connections between the conference theme, Envisioning Education in a Digital Society, and education during armed conflict and natural disasters; post-conflict and post-disaster educational reconstruction & reform; and the relationships between educational provision and peace-building, transitional justice, and resilience.
We recognize the growing importance of engaging with ethical and practical considerations of education in a digital world including the potentials and challenges for students, educators, administrators, parents, and communities. We invite submissions that focus on the complexities of educating in a digital society, particularly in contexts of conflict and crisis, from both research and practice standpoints.
We also recognize the vast digital (and other) inequities between and within crisis-affected communities and the myriad ways these inequities converge with issues of race, language, ability, identity, socio-economic status, and other marginalizing factors. We invite submissions that critically interrogate these inequities, and particularly those that explore how anti-racist, anti-colonial, transformative, social justice, and equity-driven principles and approaches have been, are, or could be applied to education policy and practice in conflict & emergency (and post-conflict & emergency) contexts.
